The respected film-maker, who revolutionised classical music programming, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, in 1931, Burton became one of the industry’s most admired broadcasters, introducing the wonder of classical music to the wider audience.
He served as the BBC’s head of music and arts during the 1960s and 1970s, winning awards for productions such as The Golden Ring.
He also initiated the Young Musician of the Year competition in 1978, a showcase that discovered talents such as violinist Nicola Benedetti.
