Outrage as Renowned South African DJ Gunned Down in the City of Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a nation grappling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old entertainer was accosted by three suspects, one of whom shot at him before running away.
The reason behind the shooting is unknown and no one has been arrested have taken place, police said.
Details of the Attack
Authorities said that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a building near the city center landmark.
He had spent several hours at the site managing the installation of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, according to reports.
"The report indicates the victim was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before running from the location on foot," authorities stated.
Security camera video showed a suspect with dreadlocked hair and clad in what appeared to be a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was hit but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.
Officials noted that Stock had an gun that was not fired and no items were stolen during the assault.
Key evidence, like cartridges, were recovered from the crime scene.

Authorities have requested eyewitnesses who may have witnessed the attack to contact them.
"Evidence suggests they covered significant ground after the shooting, and police have been attempting to locate them to establish their whereabouts," added an official.

His sister, a close relative, expressed the loved ones are reeling to understand the tragedy.
"I am devastated. I cannot express the pain," were her words.
"It is clear he was a representative for countless citizens. He spoke out bravely about issues not many people were willing to tackle. This is a profound tragedy."
She requested the public to not sharing disturbing footage from the incident, noting this was an deeply traumatic time, particularly for Stock's young family.
